I trust everyone noticed

The homage to the "Batman wants to get rid of a bomb" scene from the movie of the old TV series.

Shape of bomb - first place tried is full of baby ducks - second place tried is full of nuns. All that was missing was the salvation army band and the cute kids which ISTR were in locations 3-4 in the Batman film.

I'm proud to say that I'd already spotted it before the nuns appeared and was expecting them.

Meanwhile, the Dr. Who Special was adequate but not wonderful. I recorded it and will probably watch it again, because I saw it with family and there were a few distractions, but the plotting didn't seem to be anything really special, and a LOT of the acting was totally OTT. So it goes...

Me too!

Edit: Noticed the Batman reference immediately, I mean.

Yes, Who was a bit pantomime at times wasn't it.

I resisted the urge to shout 'He's Behind You!' when the doctor was floating up behing the giant steampunk cyberman.

And yeah, the plotting was typically sloppy. Which is what I expect from RTD these days.

Still good fun though.

We adored the Aliens riff but the biggest laugh came with the Yorkshire border sign.

Yes, I picked up on that as well. In a world of new things designed for the hyperactive and grasshopper-minded, while we can still mostly keep up, it's nice to see something designed with our generation in mind. :)

We were exceeding vexed that the Tivo only recorded half an hour of Dr Who, and the BBC started W&G 5 minutes late, so we lost the end of that too.

Sky+ recorded all of Who, but lost the end of W&G. There's no excuse for the Beeb to run late - they can always drop some of their "blatant self-advertising at its best" slots to make up for it.

Same here - lost the very end of W&G but fortunately I was watching it too.

It's on BBC iPlayer if that helps at all.

ooohhhh... That's why I was expecting the nuns there. Thanks for explaining the workings of my subconscious. *grin*
