I either have moderately good news or have been remarkably unobservant, depending on how old the news is.

Going in to work today I noticed that motorbikes are now allowed to use the bus routes running along Marylebone Road, which ought to shave a couple of minutes off my average time to drive in to work.

Now, either this happened over the Xmas holiday - in which case I don't feel too bad about not noticing, since I wasn't using my bike - or it happened earlier, in which case I'm an idiot for not noticing. Anyone happen to know?

Indeed, and as it says
Motorcyclists have been advised to make sure they know which lanes are open to them as the trial applies only to TfL bus lanes.

A spokeswoman said TfL manages about 44% of the bus lanes in the capital. About 90% of TfL's bus lanes are taking part in the trial.

[livejournal.com profile] latexiron mentioned being able to ride in bus lanes at some point this week, so I knew it was very recent.

Motorbikes have been able to use the bus lanes in Bristol since before I moved here over ten years ago!

It's not been true in most parts of London until now.
