More cheap HP 2133s
Jan. 15th, 2009 12:31 pmMisco are selling the Vista version of the HP 2133 Mininote for £218.50 inc VAT in their current sale. I think I'll pass, but if anyone wants the 2gb memory for it I can let you have it cheaper than Misco...

Date: 2009-01-15 01:26 pm (UTC)1. Cheap and cheerful: the HP Mini 1000 is like the 2133, but made of cheaper plastic, with a bigger, lower resolution screen. Costs about 200 quid new, and is just turning up on sale now.
2. Premium business machine: the HP mini 2140 is a successor to the 2133 -- with an Atom CPU that's about twice as powerful as the original's Via C7, with double the battery life, and with a bigger screen (and a higher resolution option due in March/April).
I'm waiting on the mini 2140; something that weighs as much as a Macbook Air but runs for 8 hours on battery is exactly what I need, and the mininote's metal shell/keyboard is head and shoulders better than any other netbook.
So far all HP UK are listing is the Vivienne Tam designer edition of the Mini 1000 -- an overpriced fashion accessory special edition, basically. But more minis should show up in the next couple of months, and HP US are already shipping the cheaper versions of the mini 1000.
