Samsung Q1 ultra mobile tablet pc
Jan. 28th, 2009 12:34 pmMore temptation - there are several Q1 tablet computers quite cheap on eBay UK at the moment, a little bigger and heavier than what I want but quite an interesting-looking small tablet PC with a 7" screen. Starting off around £140 with a screen that has "heavy stylus marks." Snag is the mini keyboard and case isn't included and only 3 hours battery life. I think I'll resist for now - if it was about half the thickness and a longer battery life I'd be much more tempted.

Date: 2009-01-28 01:07 pm (UTC)I happen to have, gathering dust, a Samsung Q1 keyboard and case. (No, don't ask. I just have.) The keyboard is missing the rubber nub that covers the trackpoint device, but apart from that it's fine.
If you're going to eastercon and want them, prod me a couple of days beforehand and I'll pack them: otherwise, yours for the cost of postage (once I dig out the case -- I know where the KB is).

Date: 2009-01-28 03:13 pm (UTC)Many thanks, but I think I'm going to resist the urge to buy a Q1 - they look really cool, but ones I can afford are fairly battered, and they're bigger and heavier than I want to lug around on a routine basis. My goal is still something I can carry easily in a pocket and use as a web browser, ebook reader, to take notes for writing projects, etc. The Q1 is about hardback book size, which is just a bit too big for that.
BTW - it's my impression, going by the prices charged for the full Q1 kit, that the case and keyboard is probably worth a tidy bit of change. Might be worth your while putting it up on eBay.
It suddenly Occured to me...
