Just the view from the front of my flat, not the cheeriest of landscapes right now. I've reduced the maximum size of the pictures a little to save bandwidth.

Just a general view across the road and railway towards the Westway, one of the main routes into central London. Usually at this time of the day things would be a LOT busier.

Earlier today there seemed to be about one train every fifteen minutes, compared to the forty or fifty an hour we normally get. Things seem to be a bit busier now, say one every three or four minutes, but the underground still isn't running. I think this is on the Heathrow route.

Here's what my bike currently looks like:

I suspect the battery will need to be charged before I can ride it again. And this last is the tree outside my kitchen window.

and here's the view out back. The first is the back garden (the frog pond is behind the bushes in the centre foreground), the other two are off to the left and right.

Fascinating, thank you. How deep is it? About 6 inches?

About 4-6" most places. It started snowing again about twenty minutes ago, and I suspect it's going to be a lot thicker before long.

You don't have so many snow ploughs and gritter lorries down south, do you?

I suspect the big problem down south is just the sheer concentration of people. That sort of level of snow shouldn't really be a problem, except that with so many people travelling, the chance that there'll be someone who'll do something daft is just so much higher; and then it only takes one to affect thousands.

Lack of road-clearing resource certainly ain't gonna help that though.

My "helpful" suggestion for the day is, don't live in London ;-)

Fortunately I stocked up on food on Saturday, so I ought to be OK for a day or two.

I thought it was quite a nice day to live in London, didn't most everybody wind up with the day off? :)

I have to admit I'm looking out of the office window here in Dundee and feeling a bit jealous. All we've got is a light covering.

There were a couple of flurries over here in Perthshire earlier, but nothing since. The hills are white, but that's from snow that fell last week.

They say its heading our way though, but... I don't believe the news anymore, they seem to enjoy telling the stories of WEATHER CHAOS more than actually checking to see if there was any weather chaos in the first place.

No doubt Reporting Scotland tonight will have some reporter sent out to stand by the side of the motorway in a dusting of snow to tell us about the fifteen thousand feet of snow. :)

Thanks to Conception and poor NHS timing I was driving home from Bournemouth to Kent via East London at around 03:00 this morning and kept passing bendy busses that had become completely nullified thanks to trying to get up medium inclines and bending in the middle to the point they were just > shaped road blocks. Shame my phone camera had no battery really.

That looks very cold. Sort of porridge and broth weather!

Ah, the delights of a frog pond in winter :-)

Actually, mentioning that was what reminded me that I had the frozen toad in the hole [1]

[1] US readers etc. - don't worry, it's just sausages in Yorkshire pudding; no amphibians are harmed in its manufacture.

Thanks for the clarification. I was about to Google it to find out what you were talking about.

We got 14" in 24 hours last week, but considering I live in a place that is supposed to get that much snow once in a while (Maine, USA), that's probably not much comfort. Enjoy the rare snow!

If it isn't a blizzard tomorrow I'll have to make a more determined effort to get in; really not looking forward to it!
