I nearly didn't post my story And Seven Times Never Kill Man because I didn't think it was my best work, and rather overdid the "Scoobies Uber Alles" theme I've seen in a lot of crapfic. But enough people liked it here that I posted it to Twisting, FF Net, and so forth last night.

So far it's had 24 reviews, more than my last few stories combined. Weird...

It's weird isn't it. The fic I posted for the apocalypthon was one I had to rush to finish, and that I really wasn't pleased with. Yet I've had more reviews on that one, than I got on the plenty plus chapters combined of another fic I wrote that I was really pleased with.

Tell me about it. The song of mine that everyone else seems to have a soft spot for is one that makes me cringe every time I look at it.

Actually thinking about it, that's not uncommon. There's any number of albums out there that had songs tossed in at the last minute to pad them out, and that padding turns out to be the most popular thing on the record. The obvious fannish example is Leslie Fish's serious future-folk-song album Solar Sailors, doomed to be remembered for "Banned From Argo". Less fannishly, Sydney Carter's "One Last Cigarette" did exactly the same thing to the album it featured on.
