Anyone know a heating engineer?
Sep. 8th, 2009 07:04 pmMy central heating system is pretty old and the service engineer who fixed a boiler fault a couple of weeks ago tells me that the pipes and probably radiators are clogged with sludge and need to be cleaned out, either chemically or by something called a power flush (which appears to be fairly expensive). Unfortunately my service policy doesn't cover that, so I need to find someone to do it.
Anyone able to recommend anyone in the London area? Preferably cheap and reasonably good?

Date: 2009-09-08 07:15 pm (UTC)There's a guy who's done several jobs for my sister and seems to know his stuff, but he's a sod to get hold of, and not always good at turning up on the agreed date / time. So far I haven't been able to get anything organised with him.

http://www.fernox.com/?cccpage=powerflow_flushing_pump&sub=7 has a link to the manual for this hire one: http://www.travisperkins.co.uk/hire/productDetails.asp?levelID=56&i=13&img=8698
But sorry, no recommendations if you don't want to DIY (and the powerflush links aren't a recommendation as such).
