Mythbusters recently tried out cheese as cannon ammunition. It was a struggle to find a cheese that was hard enough, without being too crumbly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrotxa_cheese worked reasonably well.

And the first thought that popped into my head when I read that was something about the "Cheese militant." I thought I'd used every possible cheese joke when I wrote my Buffy / W&G crossover, but apparently not.
