Looks like I've seen 78 of them. Don't feel any burning desire to hunt down the rest but it may happen sooner or later.

later - make that 77, I didn't initially realise that Star Trek was the 2009 reboot which I haven't seen.

Of those you haven't I would only unreservedly recommend Moon, Eternal Sunshine and Wall-E.

78 here too, but a slightly different set.

I would also seriously recommend Children of Men, Delicatessen, Donnie Darko and A Scanner Darkly.

71 here... there are quite a few you haven't seen that I would wholeheartedly recommend, including Moon, Wall-E, Eternal Sunshine, Donnie Darko, Children of Men, Event Horizon... and for odd cerebral-ish films, Cube and Primer.

But there's no rush ;)

Cube is remarkably good. Some slightly dodgy performances. But still great fun.

Have you heard anything about the restoration of Metropolis from the complete print they found in Argentina a few years ago?

I second the recommendation of Moon and Wall-E.

83, but also a slightly different set. And I haven't seen Moon, Eternal Sunshine and Wall-E yet either.

Heh, I see I'm not the only one to want to recommend some of the films you haven't seen!

WALL-E - I only saw this at New Year, and it was far better than I expected, Earth has suffered a calamity, the remnants of humanity are on a generation ship, and there's a charming love story between two robots ... what's not to like?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - a fantastic film that I hated! But I hated it for being so good, as it struck chords with me about memory, relationships and such. Great writing, great acting. Recommended.

Delicatessen - I can see how this could a "marmite" film ... but it reminds me in some ways of Brazil, has some wonderful characters in it, especially the main character ... brilliant visual comedy, and quirky as all get out. Again a film to watch with friends ...

Minority Report - better than you'd expect (even with Tom Cruise in it!) nice visual effects building up a world much like ours but a little in the future (feels about Robocop sort of time frame) and some of the stuff they "invented" (well, implemented!) for the film has already moved from fiction into products you can use since then.

Of the rest of the films you haven't seen, neither have I!

Minority Report - Ah, you mean Bolt's 1980 Put That There (http://www.media.mit.edu/speech/papers/1980/bolt_SIGGRAPH80_put-that-there.pdf) interface. I actually referred to that in my PhD thesis. :)

About half, probably, given that some of them I can't remember. I'd like to see Star Trek (2009) sometime, but I'm not bothered about the rest.

I'd watch Delicatessen, Children of Men and A Scanner Darkly again if I got the chance, so I guess they are recommended.

Well, it's similar, but it's a "multi-touch" virtual screen, no joysticks and I'm not sure that there's a dataland as such ...

... but I was also thinking of things like the pod cars that deliver you directly to your location, like the ones at Heathrow

and advertising posters that can recognise you and target advertising specifically to you.

We've had the NFC posters being trialled up by Blackfriars Bridge, and we've also had a car oil company putting up targetted advertising based on the make/model of the car driving past the poster using ANPR.

Just spotted that it's the 2009 Star Trek, so make that 77 I've seen. Oddly enough I nearly bought this one yesterday.

Ugh... 87... I have disturbed myself. For a lot of those I blame Channel 4 and BBC and the fact I stayed in a lot as a teenage boy...

If you've seen trailers and commercials for the new Trek and they make you think you would like it, then you probably would. I liked it more than I thought I would.

(And I recommend Primer, Cube, and Moon too, like everyone else.)
