Well, that REALLY buggers up continuity, doesn't it? No Dalek invasions in the early 21st century, possibly no Torchwood (since Winston seems to be on good terms with the Doctor), and I suspect a robotic friend of the family in our heroine's past.

Loved it all, apart from the 2-minute spacedrive, but they've turned the silliness dial up to 11.

I must admit, I did adore the MORE TEA line. That was utter genius.

Nice nod to Wallace and Gromit.

That was the only good bit in the whole thing.

I also quite liked the premise of the first 10 minutes or so. I loved the idea of WW2 Daleks in Khaki bumbling around the Cabinet war room. It was just after the big reveal that I stopped enjoying it.

If Amy really is from a time from before the new series began, it makes sense she can't remember. Somebody screencapped her boyfriend's hospital pass which was issued in 1990. Considering his age, he can't possibly have been a nurse for 10 years.

I loved the start but when the new Power RangersDaleks were revealed, it went downhill for me. I think I need to watch it again. But yeah, a domestic Dalek would be awesome.

Moffat's said the badge was a mistake; Amy's from the present day (viz. Rory having a Blackberry for the Doctor to yoink and use to write the virus that set all the clocks to zero in the premiere).

Amy's not knowing the Daleks is a plot point, undoubtedly something to do with the cracks in the universe (if you ask me).

Yeah, the modern phones didn't fit the time. Thanks for the clarification.

Quite possibly. The first crack was in her house, after all.

Oh, where did you find the photo your icon is based on? Bizarre!

It's from a nude 1977 photoshoot of Katy Manning, John Pertwee's companion Jo with a Dalek. I can't find an archive of the whole sequence (I think there were five or six) but they're easy enough to find individually - I've an idea that [livejournal.com profile] gonzo21 posted the whole sequence last year but you'd have to ask him for a link.

Heh, I found a few now, thanks.
Oddly enough, when I made the same search a while ago (came across them on a DVD extra) I couldn't find any.

I think the "why don't you remember the Daleks?" and the cracks in the Universe are a "yes, continuity is buggered - time travel does that if you aren't very careful" sign.

Didn't the Doctor meet a young Winston Churchill in South Africa in one of the (not necessarily TV-canon) books?

Don't know. What I have decided, unfortunately, on reflection, is that I really hate the My Little Daleks. They just aren't frightening.

Oh good grief... No, I really can't see writing that somehow.

I'm wondering if in the end the cracks are the Doctor's fault for flying through spacetime too much, like high warp traffic screwing up subspace in Star Trek TNG.

Is he flying any more than he has in the past (apart from the "Time Lords have banned him from leaving Earth" series)?

No (actually less so, most of the last few seasons were set on Earth) but he's been doing it for almost 50 years.

Space spitfires, Daleks in army uniform, cracks in space and time, sneaky Churchill. Brilliant episode full of cheese and characters. Not a fan of the chunky big-butted iDaleks. I mean, SPACE SPITFIRES! And behind the pilots were Almost Flux Capacitors!

I think we'll find that this storyline is recursive, and that something happens in the future to wipe out the previous reality events, creating a big time bubble during this new "Dalek War", hence the altered timeline.

I'm hoping this timeline is going to obliterate itself and we'll end up with the original scary Daleks again - but it's not going to happen until they've maxed out the marketing potential of Daleks Lite next Christmas.

That's my thought as well. It's a way to reboot the franchise away from from Tennant without doing a completely full reboot.
