Saw two more bicycle rental stations today, again quite close to home - doubt that they've appeared since yesterday, I just didn't look in the right direction yesterday. So that's five within a 10 minute or so walk from home.

Also saw someone riding one through traffic, fairly fast, so it looks like they can move reasonably well.

The map on the TfL website is pretty good, especially as it is updated many times during the day to say how many bikes and how many empty spaces are at each location. They also seem to have updated it from launch day to show the racks that are not in service (not built yet, or off-line)

There are vans with bike trailers circulating to move some bikes from full racks to racks where they are needed.

If you cycle to rack and it's full, it will tell you the nearest rack with spaces, and you can ask for an extension of your time to cover the time to get to the next rack. Which is far more sensible than I was expecting!

I hope that the vans can carry several bikes, that struck me as one of the possible problems of this scheme.

The vans have trailers that carry multiple bikes in a vertical position
