I'm just watching the Watchmen spinoff Tales of the Black Freighter and the Under The Hood mockumentary.

I must be very slow - I've only just realised that Moloch was played by Matt Frewer, who is also Taggert in Eureka and and played Max Headroom.

Yes, you must. :-)

(I do that a lot actually. Sometimes I recognize an actor but I rarely remember names or where I've seen them.)

I'm pathetically bad at this, but with the extra dialogue in Under The Hood it suddenly clicked.

Great actor, he's been around for a while... he was the Trashcan Man in Stephen King's The Stand (tv series).

Didn't see that - looking at his credits, he is indeed a very versatile actor.

And more recently, he played Pestilence on Supernatural. He's one of my favorite actors.

Yeah, Frewer always surprises me with the variety of places he pops up. Nearly never recognised him in Taken and I'll admit that until mentioned here I hadn't realised it was him in The Watchmen.

He doesn't speak much in Watchmen, and he's mostly seen in poor lighting conditions. In Under The Hood he's talking more naturally and he's better lit, which made identification easier.

However, has anyone ever explained that accent he uses in Eureka? Supposed to be Australian, I believe, but sounds vaguely South African with hints of Hollywood cockney.

It's a bit similar in Under The Hood. He's Canadian, maybe it's his real accent.

There were at least two Eureka characters in Watchmen. Indeed, I think I pointed this out at a Thing just after seeing the film when it first came out, but I can't remember if you were present at the time.

Who was the other one?

Chris Gauthier, who plays Vincent, the chef. Played Seymour, the assistant at the magazine who picks up the package that Rorschach had dropped off.

Born in Luton, England, according to IMDb. Would never have guessed that from his accent.

Good grief. I saw him in something else recently - an early Warehouse 13 episode?

Or was the Warehouse 13 guy a guest star in Eureka?

Not been in that according to the IMDb, but he was in both Smallville and Sanctuary.

Probably Sanctuary, I watched S1 recently.
