Martha Jones must have had a lot of help during the year that never happened, but some of her helpers must have had their own agendas...

With Friends Like These... [11]

Marcus L. Rowland

"Why should I trust you?" asks Martha. "You're not human."

Crowley smiles. "What's good for humans is good for Hell. With the Toclafane here nobody has time to do anything that merits eternal damnation."

"And Heaven can but weep," says Aziraphale. "Instead of doing something that might actually help."

"So I find this boy..?"

"Adam, yes," says Aziraphale.

"I convince him to believe in The Doctor, and that will help?"

"He has a vivid imagination," says Crowley, "and sometimes what he imagines comes true."

Once she's gone Aziraphale asks, "Should we have mentioned he's the Antichrist?"

Crowley shrugs. "Nobody's perfect."

End.

From what I remember of Good Omens, Martha wouldn't hold it against him.

True - but it's the sort of thing people do like to know.

Aren't the Toclafane still in posession of souls that Hell could collect? Not that Crowley's *really* all that keen on that part of his job, but...

Well, it's a timey wimey thing, I suppose.

How so? Their souls didn't take the trip back in time with their bodies? Or they just aren't due for final judgement till the end of the universe, so would be in a sort of Heaven (Hell) Can Wait situation even if/when they died?

Aren't they all supposed to be children, so they end up in Limbo?

That's just unbaptized infants who've committed no personal sins, but haven't been absolved of original sin. I suspect the actions of the Toclafane constitute a multitude of personal sins.

Fair point... OK, then it's the paradox thing, if you really need a reason.

The paradox that was threatened, the Toclafane killing their ancestors, would put every human soul between now and the end of the universe into a paradoxical state and I'm sure that would cause some concern for heaven and hell.

Love it! Adam would certainly be able to help, if he wanted to.

I'd imagine so, but the paradox generator probably makes things more difficult than usual.

Nice one!

I have another contribution, if you'd like it; cross with 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog':

“Why should we believe in a man?” asked the woman in the wedding dress.

“The Master’s a man,” countered the hippy chick, “and I say, stick it to The Man!”

“What choice do we have?” asked the young man in lab coat and goggles. “We’ve used up all our Wonderflonium. Maybe the Doctor can do something we can’t.”

“Our leader must decide,” declared the man in the powdered wig. “What say you, Bad Horse? Yea or nay?”

Martha groaned inwardly. The horse would neigh and this bunch of loonies would take it as a refusal.

The stallion’s mouth opened. “Yea!”

Oh nice one - if you don't mind I won't post it until tomorrow, I want to give people a chance to feedback on today's efforts.

I don't think I'm ready to open it up to everyone as a Round Robin quite yet, but would you like me to give you posting access at TTH so you can add it yourself and it will turn up on your story list?

Yes, please, give me posting access. I'd like to try out that new feature. I think I'd wait until the weekend until actually posting it - I'm back at work now and short of time until my shift finishes on Saturday morning.

I notice that you have it categorised under 'Non BtVs/AtS stories' but in fact Chapter 4 is an AtS cross. Perhaps it should be listed as 'Multiple crossovers' if that is an available secondary category with 'Dr Who/Torchwood' as primary.

OK, now done. If I recall correctly, it was your contribution to an earlier chapter that prompted me to ask for this feature, about time I used it.

As usual, I love Crowley's reasoning - which I think means you captured his character well. I like it.

SpaG: There should be a comma after 'Aziraphale asks"
