Adding to the tech price quibble: While camera bodies lose value very quickly, lenses don't, unless it's manual focus or old mount, and they are updated are lot less frequently. Even if it was the f5.6, they are still around 800 pounds while the f2.8 is going for over 5,000 on ebay.
