Screen rotation update
Oct. 9th, 2010 05:20 pmThe latest on my screen rotation problem is that it appears to be a known bug with Windows XP service pack 3 and quite a few graphics cards, and probably isn't readily soluble. It appears not to affect motherboard graphics, but I need the performance and don't want to give up the memory motherboard graphics need, so for now I'll pass on that one. Not the end of the world but VERY annoying.
I'd go over to Linux, but there are just too many Windows programs I use that don't have good alternatives. Or Windows 7 might fix it, but I really don't want to have to reinstall everything.

Date: 2010-10-10 11:36 am (UTC)The only hassle was that I didn't anticipate how many of my old (but still good) programs wouldn't work on 64bit. I had to spend another couple of hundred dollars updating software. However, if you go for the 32 bit that wouldn't be an issue. Alternatively, go for the Professional version, which includes the ability to have a virtual XP mode. Which I wish I'd known before I bought Home Premium (sigh).
