They seem to have had no money this episode, either for cast or FX (or, for that matter, scriptwriters. Hodges seems to have revised the episode himself.)

I think you miss the point of Primeval.

OMG there's dinosaurs!!! (Or giant salamanders, or bat creatures from the future)

I have to be honest, that's why I watch it. I'm happy when there's also a bit of plot to go with the monster of the week, and I admire them for killing off the lead character in the middle of a previous series. But I would probably have given up by now on any other show that had the same kind of flaws.
