Hmmm...

I found a small piece of plastic on the floor today. Not that this is particularly unusual, this flat is currently a total mess, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is.

It looks like some kind of stud fastener, made of creamy grey plastic, but it doesn't ring any bells. Don't think it comes from a PC, keyboard, etc., could be something like an old-style floppy disk box but I haven't had one like that in years. The head of it is about a centimetre across, and it's about a centimetre long.

It's probably completely unimportant, but not knowing is beginning to bug me.

Does the look of it ring any bells with anyone?

Cheap wooden furniture sometimes uses these as fasteners or to cosmetically plug holes. Does the flat surface show any wear? If so, it may be a foot from something.

Also, as with any Forteana, you really need to include a scale in the picture, or everyone will assume you just Photoshopped it. One centimeter indeed.

I've seen something exactly like this somewhere recently...and I can't remember where. I fished it out of Schnapps' mouth, so it had to be home, but I can't think of where I restored it to. She's always pulling plugs out of things, especially furniture fasteners. Grumble. If I remember I'll post it.

Can't think of any furniture like that, and it isn't worn. As for showing a scale, if the place was sufficiently tidy for me to find a ruler things like this probably wouldn't turn up!

They look like the plugs that hold the feet on to my PC case. The feet clip onto holes and the plugs fill the hole in the centre of the foot prventing them unclipping.

Don't have anything like that on the PCs here. They're biggish rubbery feet.

Could they have been packaging/retaining clips that were removed from something and discarded in the excitement rather than binned?

Don't think so.

I suppose the best thing to do with it is to shove it in the drawer and hope I can find it if it does eventually turn out to be important. Like all the other crap in the drawer...
