Met up with [livejournal.com profile] raygungothic and family this evening and got their spare ice cream maker, which he's very generously given me, and will have a go at making some frozen yogurt tomorrow, once the bowl is thoroughly chilled.

There are a LOT of recipes on line, what I'm looking for is ones that are as fat and sugar free as possible. The ones I'd particularly like to try are vanilla, honey and ginger, coffee, and banana, but I'm open to suggestions - for example, I've made garlic yogurt and mint yogurt as salad dips, can't help wondering what they'd be like frozen.

All suggestions gratefully received!

Cinnamon. Cinnamon frozen joghurt is wonderful (OK, I'm a cinnami=on junkie, but it really is good unless you're allergic to the stuff).

I'm OK, I think - got a good recipe?

I think it just involved adding some random amount of cinnamon (both powder and essence I've seen used) to the joghurt and then freezing it (using a hand ice-cream churn). I don't think there was any sweetener added but there may have been (try it in the non-frozen state and see what it's like). You could probably do the same with nutmeg but don't overdo it, nutmeg is poisonous in large quantity (although usually the body rejects it before it give more than mild hallucinations, but it's still messy).

We used to just put full fat M&S vanilla yoghurt into the freezer for about two hours and then simply eat it...

It's the full fat part I want to avoid if possible.

Yes - it is the way of life, sadly. They don't even make the yoghurt that froze so nicely anymore.

I've just realised the manual-and-recipe-book is on my bookshelf somewhere rather than in the box. Sorry! If I find it this weekend I will ask your address so I can post it to you.

Don't worry - I found it on their web site and printed the English language part.
