My iBook has suddenly decided that it doesn't like to connect to the internet via my wireless network. It can connect to my network and access the network hard disk, but it won't then connect to the internet. I can connect to the internet using the network in the flat below (I have permission since I set it up) but I don't know about files there, there isn't a server.

I've also had some odd crashes lately, and it doesn't seem to want to remember passwords on the keychain.

What I suspect is that OS-X has got a little corrupt somewhere, maybe the keychain or maybe something else. I could just erase the hard disk and reinstall Tiger, the last OS this will run, but I'd lose some applications etc. Is there some sort of utility I can run to check things?

Later - eventually got it working after three router reboots, no idea what the problem was.

There is Disk Utility. I would try to check permissions through that first. It should be in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder - I think.

Looks like it was a router glitch - I suspect that the iBook is playing up too though, not sure why. Maybe it's time to think about a complete reinstall and get rid of everything I don't use.
