That's my feeling. The ISP's server has the advantage that it's nearer and so probably faster (not true of all ISPs, but probably true of all the major ones). Personally I configure to use 8.8.8.8 on almost everything, because I can remember it and it "just works". The only problem would be if Google did something stupid like resolving all unknown addresses to their own server...
