Just watching Doctor Who - they just explained why everyone speaks English, e.g. a telepathic field generated by the TARDIS. Meanwhile someone just made a phone call across several billion years and a couple of people have died horribly. Yay!!

I remember my brother telling me that the TARDIS reprograms people's brains so that they can understand different languages. This would have been in the mid-70s, but I'm pretty sure that this capability of the TARDIS is mentioned by Hartnell.

I liked the phone call, although it was a little convenient that the Doctor's device had an interface that would fit a Nokia. It should have been liquid and melted into the phone. And what the *hell* was all that with the bicycle pump???!!! I'm definitely getting less convinced.

I thought that they'd said that the Tardis door keys did this, but maybe I'm remembering it wrong.
