Lots of people, myself included, have said that Tony Head (Giles) would be good as The Doctor.

But wouldn't he be absolutely amazing as The Master, with a little of his Ripper personality in place?

Just a thought...

Can't say about his version of the Master but I still want him as the Doctor.

Unfortunately fairly reliable rumour has it that he's already been offered the part of the Doctor and turned it down.

Yup, he'd be great, though in my mind he'd have to be incredible to eclipse the wonderfully charismatic Roger Delgado's version of the Master. He was very good as the villain of the Excelis trilogy of Doctor Who audios from Big Finish. Sadly, I doubt he'd be interested. He's said he's keen not to take on another "cult" character.

Thing is that The Master is an occasional character, not a regular. He'd only be playing him in short bursts, not season in and out.

It could be argued that, at least for a while during the UNIT years, the Master was a regular. But you're right, of course.

Head would be good as the master. It occurred to me yesterday that the obvious person to be the Doctor would be Gareth Thomas. He even looks a bit like Tom Baker. and he's got plenty of sf previous "Star Maidens" anyone? As well as B7 and "Knights of God".
