The Radio Times (the BBC's TV and radio magazine) has a coupon this week for two free tickets to the next previews of the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in various UK cinemas on the morning of the 24th. There's only one cinema in London participating, the UCI in Whiteleys, and it happens to be a ten minute walk from here. So I trailed round there after work and gave them the coupon, and they gave me a couple of tickets. In fact I got the distinct impression that few or no people had asked them, since she had to think about it before she remembered where they were.

So on Saturday 23rd I've got the Salute games con, on Sunday HHG. Ought to be an interesting weekend...

Anyone else going to be there?

Empire with VUE cinemas do a similar thing across the country.
Hm, are they afraid nobody would see it otherwise? It almost seems that way.

It's relatively cheap advertising. Folks see the movie and then talk it up to their friends. Back in college in the US they used to show us movies early for free all the time. Recently I've seen a few movies for free a week or so before they open: Aliens Vs. Predator was the last one.

It's usually a very good sign: craptacular movies never get early previews. Tho how you feel about AvP may color what I just said ;-)
