The obligatory snow pics

It's been snowing on an off since yesterday, but mostly it has been a very fine sort of snow crystal which blows away or melts easily, not big flakes, and still no more than an inch or so, though I shook off quite a lot from my bike cover yesterday. It's settling on the pavement (sidewalk) but not on the road surface to any large extent.

Here are a couple of pictures from my front window, nothing too exciting








I have no idea if it is going to settle more - it doesn't really seem to be getting much colder, but the snow is continuing so if it does start to stay it will probably end up a few inches deep.

Annoyingly I spend the next three weeks working in our 6th form building which is (a) a lot further from the underground station and (b) poorly heated. I do not expect this to be fun...

That's a good deal more than we have - namely zero...

It sounds as if you'll need to wear your thermal long-johns to go to work even if you aren't taking the bike!

We'll have to see what happens - a couple of years ago they did close the school for two days, due to Westminster having been caught off-guard and not gritting the pavements etc., but I don't think it'll happen this time.

Around here, based on those pictures, that wouldn't be enough snow for them to bother sending anyone out to clear the roads, or sidewalks.

It really isn't very much, I agree; I didn't feel particularly cold or find myself slipping on my way to work. But London is typically a couple of degrees warmer than the rest of the country, due to sheer number of people, vehicles, etc., and there's so much traffic that snow doesn't get much chance to settle on the roads; it's a lot worse out in the country.

Forgot to add that there was about 2" of snow on parked cars etc. this morning, so it obviously did build up to some extent; just fortunately not on the road or pavement, at least in my bit of London.
