Woken by the doorbell at 7.15, leaped out of bed (and pulled a muscle so badly I'm still limping), staggered down and got the new Harry Potter from the postman. About which I will only say that it is pretty good so far, starts at a gallop and sustains it. Look elsewhere for spoilers.

About ten minutes ago the bell rang - another postman, this time with Dead Like Me S2 (Region 1 and VERY cheap from playusa.com) and Constantine, the region 3 release which is about half the price of region 2.

Some days I quite like the internet...

Pulled a muscle eh. I'm sure there's probably a moral there somewhere.

I bet the postmen hated today, with all the Harry Potters to be delivered.

Actually he seemed quite cheerful - I suspect that a lot of people are getting paid overtime today. As I said, it was a separate delivery from the main post.

As a postman I assure you the separate delivery is a definite. With the sheer amount of weight per book, there was no way that most offices weren't going to just give them all to a couple of people to deliever the whole lot with the aid of a van. :D

Funniest thing was last night - watching all the managers having to sort them because we peons obviously could not be trusted. :D

Ah, so they probably laid on special Potter-postmen. That's quite charming actually, I bet they had many wonderful encounters with excited children on doorsteps.

And now, back to my regularly scheduled programme of bitter cynicism.

I'm fairly sure I have some bitter and twisted Death Eater postmen in my office, so logically there must be a counterbalance somewhere...

I'll bet they were quite happy. Ring the doorbell, ecstatic Potter fan greets them, all is well. It's got to be quite the change from their usual routine.

When mine got delivered, just after noon, the guy just rang the doorbell and dropped it on my doorstep. He was most of the way back to his van by the time I got the door open. I suppose that after four-plus hours of delivering HP books he was fed up with the screaming kids.
