Style woes

I've gone back to the "standard" tabular indent style for my journal, and the old styles for the friends page, since it's still the one I really like. Is there really no way to make my friends page work like this in the new system? Why is it considered essential to take up the left quarter of the page with a load of crap which I won't normally want to use if I'm just looking at the bloody friends page? And how in Cthulhu's name is this supposed to make any sense on a small screen?

Still hating the new posting page, it defies all logic that this awful font, menuing system, etc. is considered appropriate for text entry.

I love lj but...

I think they're messing with us. I hate how tiny the font is on the posting page :( I admit that I have terrible eyesight, but when I zoom in... every time I write a word the whole thing jumps back to the top of the screen. It's very aggravating. Editing tags has become a hassle too.

To get the friends page back I had to jump through hoops on the settings screen. It's frustrating.

Also, I wish LJ was set up for dynamic entries. I like to do my journal from my Kindle, but the editing screen refuses to fit.

It's more or less unusable on a netbook too. They just don't test things properly.

Is all of the development for LJ done from Russia? It feels sometimes as though someone comes up with an idea and LJ just implements it site wide without checking how it will work out.

That seems to be the case - plus there appears to be one person in overall charge who seems to think that if he likes something everyone else will.

It's not. They don't test on anything but desktop computers. Presumably they think that's all anyone uses.

My theory remains that LJ's owners have been tricked into buying a controlling share in Commodore Computers.

It's truly bizarre.

Oh well, it will probably fail spectacularly on Windows 8, which has some new viewing modes for web pages, we'll have to see what happens when that becomes the major market share operating system.

Thankfully I'm yet to see the new redesigned friends page, I'm hoping because I still use an ancient version of the site, that it might not be implimented on mine.

(I use the one from way back with the blue column down the left hand side of the page with all the options. It's hard to describe, I'll take a screenshot tomorrow.)

That's what the new one looks like so I don't think you need worry too much - unfortunately I really don't like that layout.
