I actually feel a sense of relief, which I didn't expect. I guess my fear of Trump (a loose cannon if there ever was one) is less strong than my revulsion at Clinton, or more generally at the Bush/Clinton dynastic politics of the past two decades. But my main reaction is disappointment at Johnson, who had as much chance as anyone has ever had at bringing libertarianism into the mainstream—and was hopelessly unprepared for campaigning.
That's not impossible by any means, and I dread the prospect of finding that you're right. I was actually surprised to discover how very much I had not wanted Clinton in office; up until the day of the election I had thought that I considered them a choice of equally unspeakable evils. Six months from now I may look back on Trump's election the way I looked back on Obama's in early 2009—or it may be even worse than that.
Sorry, must have missed this when you posted it - I think the last year or so has been fairly definitive proof that time travel is either impossible or won't be invented by anyone with an interest in the welfare of humanity...
