Well, count nobody entirely surprised by this, after the Master = Missy thing of the last couple of series - The next Doctor will be Jodie Whittaker, an actress I know little about:

The only things I know I've seen her in were the two recent St. Trinian's films, where she played the dumb receptionist, and Attack the Block, where she was the female lead.

Damn, I've seen both St. Trinian's films and didn't recognise her at all.
