Negative? What Negative?

A plaque I found in a car boot sale (US="Swap meet") today.



Ignoring the slightly dodgy use of photographic terms, it occurs to me that we're already living in a world where a large percentage of photographers have no idea what a negative is...

Sure they do, it's Command-I in Photoshop. ;)

Edit: Further thought — I think it's one of those cultural artifacts that will hang around because of its usefulness as a metaphor, like "taping" audio.

Maybe - but give it a few years for the last VCRS and cassette decks to die and people won't remember what that originally meant either!

When I needed to buy a new pair of sunglasses in Florence last year, the shop I found that sold them had a sign outside advertising Kodak film. I did wonder if they actually still sold it.

Probably still did - there are still film users around, they're just a minority these days.
