Belated thought on the May Bank Holiday

Is the move to 8th May part of a cunning plan to further divorce this holiday from it being the May Day celebration, which came to have socialist connotations in the 20th century? Are Boris and co. that vindictive? Or not, of course...

On the whole I think is isn't that big an issue for most people, the heyday of big socialism is long gone, so they probably didn't do it with that in mind. But I could be wrong.
