I appear to have committed to running a Diana: Warrior Princess adventure based on my Torchwood / Help crossover ...A Little Help From My Friends at the Continuum games con next month, and need a few player characters. So far I have three, I would ideally like to have six or more ready to use. They are to take part in a discreet investigation at the request of the Queen herself in the 1960s.

So far the characters I have are:

Captain Jack Harkness - pansexual indestructible time traveler, very good at getting jobs done, not exactly discreet but has plenty of retcon tablets.

Doctor Carol Lake (an alias for Evire Fbat (ROT13)), an archaeologist with an interest in Thugee.

Adam Adamant, Gentleman Adventurer! - involuntary time traveller (frozen) from the 19th century, very patriotic but not really caught up on popular culture.

Possibly - Miss Georgina Jones, Adam's plucky assistant. All too familiar with swinging sixties culture, but not exactly ladylike.

Possibly - Corporal Benton, later Sergeant Benton - before he joined UNIT. Not quite sure how to fit him in yet, probably an orderly of some sort, but that would make him a member of the Brigade of Guards which doesn't seem right for him.

More suggestions would be VERY welcome. Someone who knows about science or medicine might be useful, but I'm drawing a bit of a blank for 1960s British TV.

The only two that come to the top of my head are Sir Guy Grand or his son Youngman Grand from The Magic Christian, though their only abilities are being Rich.

Chief Petty Officer Pertwee (Of The Navy Lark) Quartermaster extraordinaire and person with relatives in low places all over the UK. A schemer, a master bargainer and able to find supplies, transportation (though not always safe or reliable or legal) etc almost anywhere.

Jon Steed (of the Ministry) from the Avengers? Gentleman Spy working for MI13 and poking his combat umbrella and his steel reinforced bowler into things if there is a disappearing person, town, etc. or a mysterious death "Drowned on a mountain top" etc.

There really are not a lot of BBC SF in the 1960s, except for some anthology shows, a lot of marionette vision kids shows, some spy shows with a small sf element (like the Avengers).

Quatermass was more 50's than 60's but could serve for science adviser. Other thought is The Champions which gives you a pilot, a code breaker and a doctor/scientist

If you want someone who knows about medicine from 1960s British TV, then how about Doctor Finlay of the eponymous Casebook or his partner in the practice (whose name escapes me at the moment)? Or maybe someone from "Emergency Ward 10" (my mother's favourite show, but not one where I can remember any of the doctors' or nurses' names.)
