While looking for something else entirely I found A Space Elevator for Google Earth

Save it then click on it, Google Earth should open with the elevator added - I wouldn't recommend saving anything from Google Earth though!

Interesting, but it's not nearly tall enough. The anchor point for a space elevator has to be above 22,240 miles up.

I agree, but I think that there may be some practical problems getting it properly to scale - I haven't tried anything like this yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if the maximum size allowed for objects was the diameter of the Earth, it looks about that sort of size.
