Japanese artist
Apr. 30th, 2006 09:38 amAnyone able to identify artists from the Russian-Japanese war? I've got an article from 1904 with several pictures but the artist or artists aren't named. Anyone know? Waves in the first look like the style of Hokusai, but of course he died much earlier. One of the later ones reminds me of Fred T. Jane's illustrations for The Angel of the Revolution.

Later: Added all of the pictures.

Date: 2006-04-30 07:40 pm (UTC)In fact I'm taking a rest from Elvis for a few days and using the time to scan interesting stuff from some copies of Pearson's Magazine I recently picked up - eventually this stuff will be on the CD-ROM I publish. So far this weekend I've scanned the monorail and Japanese print article and about 30 period adverts, and I have another railway article and an 1896 submarine article to go. What I'm not finding, unfortunately, is any period SF or fantasy that I don't have that isn't still in UK copyright - I've got the first printing of The Food of the Gods, for example, but I can't use it because Wells is still in Euro copyright.
