Just signed up for Continuum, the biannual three-day games con at Leicester university at the end of July. It's a fun con with an emphasis on Runquest / Glorantha / Call of Cthulhu and a lot of freeform games - I've always had a really good time, and I'm looking forward to more of the same.

Vaguely thinking that it's about the right time to launch Flatland as a stand-alone game if I can get my act together in time.

See http://www.continuum.uk.net/ for details of the con. Hope I'll see some of you there.

I should really organise myself and make it up this year as punter. I've only ever been once for the weekend as an attendee and that was back in 1994 (I think?)!!!

All the other times have been day visits running the shops stand.

Hi - didn't know you had an LJ account - hope you don't mind if I friend you.

It's an excellent con, following very nicely in the footsteps of Convulsion, Convulsion/Continuum and the Cambridge university cons on the alternative years are my favourite cons.

Thanks for the add :)

I've not been to the Cambridge show as yet. I think I should give that one a try next time round.

The problem with working at a games store is that pretty much all the conventions you go to are on business and it tends to stop you (well me anyway) from going to them on recreation time.

I can't recall the last time I played an RPG at a convention and I know the last game I played was a playtest version of the Paranoia Card Game when I was at Conpulsion in Edinburgh last year. Before that it was probably a Vampire Boardgame when GenCon was still at Camber Sands!!!

The next Cambridge one is going to be a combined games, SF, and Filk con, I think. New Hall in Cambridge is ideal for that sort of small con - lots of small function rooms, outdoor areas and covered walkways, so plenty of room for diversity. Also pretty good accommodation for a university site if you go for one of the en suite rooms, and excellent food since they rebuilt the kitchen and serving areas. Free broadband too last time around, though that wasn't actually promised in advance.
