ffutures | Weird Tesco bargain

Tesco (at least the one in my area) are selling 280g jars of shredded beetroot with star anise in red wine vinegar... for a penny a jar, offer ending in April. I have absolutely no idea why, I just bought the four jars that were left on the shelf on the assumption that it wasn't much of a risk, and gave a couple to my sister. Taste-wise it appears to be a pretty nice pickled beetroot, maybe a little sweet, with a wine vinegar taste behind that. I probably wouldn't have thought to buy it if I hadn't noticed the price, I was actually after pickled onions when I spotted it.

Look, it's a penny a jar, you can't really go wrong if you buy it! Unless you're allergic to one of the ingredients or something...
