Can anyone explain why I can buy Jim Butcher's latest Dresden Files books for $22.15 (about £11.50) including international shipping from amazon.com, whereas amazon.co.uk will only sell you a second-hand copy starting at £12.13 PLUS international postage?

English language rights are still sold in two tranches -- North American and UK/Commonwealth (minus Canada). Jim is now published in the UK, albeit some time behind his US publisher. British publishers get very shirty with Amazon if Amazon.co.uk start offering imported US copies once a British publisher has bought the rights ... so we may presume that a paperback of WHITE NIGHTS is in the offing. (And about bloody time, seeing it made #5 in the New York Times bestseller list!)

Thee UK paperback version of White Nights isn't due out until January 2008.

I ended up picking up a Hardcover edition when I was in the States last month. Saying that I haven't read it yet as I'm currently reading Proven Guilty as I seem to have somehow fallen behind the series.

Should really try and see what the TV series is like at somepoint. I caught the first couple of episodes (which I wasn't entirely sure about) but have been told the series got better as it progressed (hmmm... we'll see...)

I've seen them as downloads - OK, and it does get better, but nowhere near as good as the books.
