Just trying to think - has The Master broken any of the Evil Overlord rules yet in this incarnation? I really can't think of any so far.

Later: All right, any others apart from leaving his enemies alive?

He hasn't killed the Doctor yet. That's a pretty major rule violation right there.

True - but he's only had him as his prisoner for a couple of minutes. But I agree that the whole "I'm going to kill you again and again" thing with Captain Jack is just asking for it.

He didn't cap the Doctor and MArtha when they were in his clutches.

Yes, true - and the whole "killing Captain Jack again and again" thing is just asking for trouble.

12: One of my advisors will be an average five-year-old child. Any flaws in my plan that he is able to spot will be corrected before implementation.

-- I'm sure that his final demise will turn out to be something that a five year old could have warned him against.

20: Despite its proven stress-relieving effect, I will not indulge in maniacal laughter. When so occupied, it's too easy to miss unexpected developments that a more attentive individual could adjust to accordingly.

-- He was so busy engaging in maniacal laughing that he didn't properly secure his prisoners, allowing Martha to get away.

I expect that #41 is going to be a problem for him: Once my power is secure, I will destroy all those pesky time-travel devices.

42: When I capture the hero, I will make sure I also get his dog, monkey, ferret, or whatever sickeningly cute little animal capable of untying ropes and filching keys happens to follow him around.

-- When dealing with the Doctor, that one really should be extended to cover his companions.

54 may be a problem: I will not strike a bargain with a demonic being then attempt to double-cross it simply because I feel like being contrary.

-- whatever those ball things really are, I suspect that the Master is planning some sort of double-cross in their future.

He has learned #35 though: I will not grow a goatee. In the old days they made you look diabolic. Now they just make you look like a disaffected member of Generation X.

OK, all true. And we don't know if he's going to change into a snake yet, of course...

Oh, classic! That one tripped up the Mayor, and he'd been doing so well up to that point. Also, he needs to keep an eye or two on his Trusted Lieutenant, i.e. his wife--she's an unpredictable one, unless [livejournal.com profile] commodoresexual is right about the two of them.

Of course, the real problem with the Master is that he can't kill the Doctor because without the Doctor to appreciate his Evil Schemes, world domination just isn't any fun.

Most of the 'trusted lieutenant' rules boil down to "I will trust my trusted lieutenant," and so far he seems to be doing that.
