Has anyone been able to download the Windows version of Google Earth 4.2 (which adds astronomical features) successfully? I keep getting an error on their main download page, not sure if this is a sign that the site is overloaded (since yesterday morning) or they've pulled it for some reason. The direct link to the "latest version of the file" is unfortunately 4.0, not 4.2

Annoyingly the Mac version of 4.2 needs OS-X 10.4 or later to run. I'm still using 10.3

Later: solved and running well now thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kit_hartford

Looks VERY impressive on the big screen TV - all I need to do now is figure out how to set it for the 6:9 aspect ratio to avoid distortion...

I had no problems downloading the Windows version. However if it was to be believed, there was a purple neon map of the administrative regions of the UK orbiting the Earth.

Yes, apparently some combinations of the optional features can cause silly problems with the astronomy bit. But my guess is that it's just a caching thing, and that they'll go away if you switch everything off then bring them back slowly.
