More dragon coins based on [livejournal.com profile] frostfox's pictures.

I'm a bit happier with these, I think. They'll be pretty small on the covers, I may also use them as fillers somewhere, not quite sure yet. I still haven't found an ideal gold texture for coins, unfortunately, there probably is one but really flat gold looks too dull.

The darker colour is nice. I see where you're going with the aged coin, but you have to balance that with being able to tell what it is. The mottled effect you're using isn't doing you any favours here, as it breaks up the image and makes it hard to make out. Most old coins don't look like that; their colour is flatter. Also, if it's old, you might want to thin out the edging you have on the coin; the effect you have is quite detailed, which suggests a newer coin, both in wear and tear and production technology.

I guess - I'm explaining the mottling in the text as being the scraping of endless dragon scales. The trouble is that the flat gold textures look really dull when I do the coin thing. But I shall persevere.

Added two more versions of the first coin with a smoother background and less finely milled rim, rather than no rim. Think they both need a little noise adding to make the finish less monotonous, but I'd appreciate your comments first.

The new rim works really nicely. Of the two new versions of the first coin, I think the last one works best. I get what you mean about the finish, but aged coins are dull, and that finish looks very close to me.
