Dexter thoughts - spoilers

A few thoughts on Dexter - spoilers for episodes 3.1 - 3.3



Dexter is lying about where he hid the body - maybe the wrong grave / cemetery, maybe he just dumped the body at sea per his usual methods. There was no internal dialogue at that point, which to me suggests that we're meant to believe him for now, and that the grave will be exhumed sooner or later.

One or both of the tree surgeons knows more than he's saying, or is the killer.

The shirt will be useful to Dexter sooner or later when he needs to cover his tracks.

The DA is covering something up in the wrongful conviction - maybe one of his brothers was the killer.

I think there's something fishy about the DA's arrival at Freebo's hiding place, but I need to rewatch the episode to check.

The pedophile put pictures of Aster on line.

Deb will end up in bed with the singer.



Be interesting to see how much of this becomes plot points in later episodes.

There also seems to be a sense of brotherhood running through the season. For a strongly family oriented man, Prado seems very disappointed in his brothers - one a hothead, one a junkie. It's almost as though he's seeing Dexter as a replacement.

My best guess/theory at the moment is that the Prado brothers were running a star chamber/vigilantes type of retribution, cleaning up the streets after scum got away from Migel's proscution. Would explain what Oscar was doing with Freebo in the first place.

Given the way Dexter killed that pedophile - in anger, disgust, unpremediated and with no precautions against traces being left, I'm betting Dexter has to go to Prado to try and get it covered up. One also has to wonder whether he took all the computers, cameras and whatever photos of Aster were around.

The vigilante thing is certainly a possibility.

Re the pedophile killing - while we don't see Dexter taking many precautions, we rarely do anyway. I suspect that he was going to do his usual "dismemberment and vanishing act" with the body, and that he will have been fairly thorough about his computers etc. - Dexter is technically savvy and will think of things like flash sticks, CD-R, etc. He was thinking about killing him for several days, he will have made plans.

If I recall correctly, Prado — on arriving at Freebo’s hideout — made specific reference to having found Freebo’s location by tracing a cell call made from Freebo’s phone to his mother’s.

Which may or may not tie in with what they were saying about the other calls Freebo made. I suspect there's more to it than meets the eye.
