Having decided to wait a while before buying any sort of netbook, I picked up a cheap Jornada 728 (the best of HP's hand held PCs) to use as a notebook, and have just got hold of a low power consumption WiFi card for it.

Now the WiFi card is obviously working because the software can recognise several networks. Its monitor application seems to say that it's connected properly. But I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to tell Internet Explorer to use it.

Any suggestions?

I just remembered that I can have the same problem if I forget to disable a proxy setting I use to connect to work with. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options and then click the Connections tab. Click the LAN Setting button and see if you are or are not using a proxy. Then compare that to the computer that's working. You want to setup your notebook the same way as the other computer.
