While I was sorting out memory issues I realised that I can upgrade my media PC to 2gb for about fifteen quid - it has four slots and there are a LOT of 512mb SIMMS of the right type on offer at five or six quid. Hopefully that will be sorted in the next day or two. I'm not sure a computer that's used 99% of the time to play TV programs actually needs 2gb, but it's probably going to boost performance a little, which that PC badly needs. It's a bit slow running virus checks etc.

It depends on what operating system your media PC uses...
I seem to recall that the optimum amount of RAM, for running a Windows XP based system was 2GB...
