Cue Captain Jack looking all teary and conflicted as he has to be the one to kill *all* the wittle kiddies (and the rest as well, but there will be wittle kiddies, I think we can guarantee that).

I'm sure it will be a big success.

Russell T. Davies promises a "massive, shattering climax to the whole thing" in the finale

Which will be no surprise because it will be telegraphed for several episodes before the 3-part 'finale', which will probably involve a deus ex machina cop-out or a wind-back. Hasn't he learned yet that he is no good at endings?

Does anyone he listens to actually tell him so?

Good point, I don't know. I don't know if he listens to anyone apart from his fans.

I might watch it just to see how big the train wreck is. But it's in the summer anyway, so a slack time as far as the rest of my viewing is concerned.

According to him, the *last* people he listens to are his fans. =:o\ Which is a shame, because plenty of his fans have been trying to tell him for the last 6 years that "Rusty, dear, you're great at characters, but lousy at plot mechanics."

If you mean Gaiman's Sandman, then not really. It's mentioned early on that it would've been a Very Bad Thing if the magicians had managed to imprison Death instead of Dream (presumably because people wouldn't die any more), and much later all the souls are let out of Hell and return as ghosts. You may be thinking of one of those.

It was one of the spin-off books with Death and two ghost children. Forget the title.

Not sure the ghost kiddies where involved. I think it might have been one of the Death one-offs. High Cost of Living or the other one.

Basically nobody dies while she is spending her day as a mortal. Unless they are in her company that is.

That's not a spin-off, it's the issue of the main series (about halfway through Season of Mists) that the spin-offs involving the two ghost children were spun off from.

And [livejournal.com profile] cdybedahl was right, it's "all the souls are let out of Hell and return as ghosts", not "nobody dies". (Though that doesn't, of course, invalidate the broader point that "nobody dies" has been done before.)

I wonder how they'll get 10 episodes worth of story out of this one plot.

No idea. Suspect that there will be multiple red herrings.
