Date: 2011-07-21 09:14 am (UTC)Of course AIUI a lot of the more detailed photos in google maps are aerial photography rather than satelite imaging, NZ is a small country it not beyond the bounds of reason they heard that the aerial photography run in advance from the pilots, or similar.
