Just got myself a 17" LCD monitor to replace the old 17" CRT monitor, which has a bad case of jerky picture and I suspect is not worth repairing.

Rapidly discovered that the settings I was using for the old monitor came out as painfully bright on this one, while restoring the graphics card defaults gave me a better picture that I can ever remember seeing on the old display. So much so that I've gone from 1024x768 to 1280x1024.

Not cheap, but definitely worth it. The only problem is that I'm so used to looking at a curved screen that this one looks concave...

Roughly how much are 17" LCD monitors now? I would dearly love to get one to replace this monstrous 17CRT monitor that devours all of my desk space, but, last time I looked the price, even for a 15" LCD was terribly prohibitive.

This one came in at £210 inc VAT. Not sure how that compares to prices elsewhere. Remember that even a 15" TFT has nearly as much visible screen as a 17" CRT monitor; a 17" comes out about an inch bigger.
