"I met him in the cemetery, got attacked by a mob of vampires. He killed six without raising a sweat. Left me VERY grateful..."

"Some sort of demon?"

"He's more the strong silent type, like Oz," said Buffy, "but you'd be amazed what he can do with his body. He'll be here in a minute, see for yourself."

The bell rang. Willow went to the door and said "Buffy, someone left a tree here!"

"I am Groot..." said the tree.

"It's like Sid the dummy said," said Buffy, "'Once you go wood...'"

Crossover with Guardians of the Galaxy. The quote at the end of this story and in its title comes from the Buffy episode The Puppet Show, which features a possessed ventriloquist's dummy called Sid:

"...How about you and I do a little rehearsing on our own, honey? You know what they say: once you go wood, nothing’s as good!”

edited to add a short explanatory note and a small title change, I was remembering a quote wrong.

One of the nice things about retirement is being able to catch early shows at the cinema with no kids (and in this case virtually no audience, I think three in the whole cinema). The Winter Soldier was today's movie, and turned out to be pretty good - I won't say perfect, but there was a lot less to complain about than I expected.

Before I get to spoilers, I can say that we see much more of Black Widow than I expected - I thought it would be a token appearance to keep the fans happy, but she's in a majority of scenes and pivotal to the plot. We also find out what happened to Peggy, see the Captain America exhibit at the Smithsonian (which does have some swastikas on view in historical film etc., something we didn't see in Captain America), where Cap is recognised by a kid who sees through his impenetrable disguise of a baseball cap. We also get glimpses of his apartment and his shopping list of things he needs to learn more about in the 21st century, and learn more about SHIELD - a lot more.

Then there's the actual plot - ( SPOILERS!!!!! )

All in, it's a fun romp which has thoroughly Jossed pretty much all fanfic involving SHIELD in the Marvel cinematic universe, and is hopefully going to be important in future films with this setting. I recommend it.

There was also a trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, which looks to be pretty good, and Amazing Spider Man 2 which... doesn't. We shall see.

While I'm aware of Jennifer Walters as a character (as She-Hulk and as a lawyer in the Marvel universe) I never read the comic much and don't really know a lot about her legal practice. Basically, what sort of cases does she handle? Any specialities or things she won't touch? I'm thinking of using her in a story, not sure if it will work.

There are apparently two short films about Agent Coulson on the Thor and Captain America Blu-Ray disks (but not the DVDs)

Here's the latest part of my BtVS/Angel/Marvel crossover Wolfbane, set two years after the end of Angel Season 5 (and ignoring the comics), and shortly after the end of the first story arc in The Pulse. For more on Jessica Jones see her Wikipedia entry, and various Marvel comics, most notably Alias (nothing to do with the TV show) and The Pulse. Some aspects of this story are a little AU for later issues of The Pulse, just assume that they're part of the general "fuzziness" of the Marvel universe. 18 rating, warnings for swearing and violence.

This seems to be headed towards fairly adult concepts, so I'm now setting it as an 18 rating.
