I want to number the pages starting at page 1, which will actually be page 3 of the document - the real page 1 is the title page and 2 is the table of contents. The help (which is as usual crap) talks about something called a Section Break, but that doesn't seem to do much. Anyone know how to get this to work?

The second comment is correct; that's the "proper" way to do it, though it's a bit tough to do if you've never had anyone show you the exact sequence of buttons to press. It's finicky.

When I answer this question on the phone, I usually tell people the workaround: put the table of contents at the end of the document so that the actual page one is numbered page one. You then can reoganize the pages in Acrobat (I'm assuming that PDF the ultimate destination of this document).

Good idea, but there's a title page too which I would also prefer not to have numbered.

Could go through and change the numbers by hand, I suppose...
