What fanfic were you reading / writing in these decades (fandoms, favourite ships etc.) and links to stories if possible please?

1. 1960s
2. 70s
3. 80s
4. 80s
5. 90s
6. 90s
7. 2000s
8. Nowish

For example, I know Professionals and Blake's 7 were big in the UK in the 1970s-80s, but I wouldn't know where to look for examples of period writing.

1. 1960s You don't get to see my attempts at fanfic from this period.
However, I was big into 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' and 'Garrison's Gorillas' and both will come up later because I did most of my fannish writing about them in a later period. Also very fond of 'The Man from UNCLE', 'Star Trek' 'Temple Houston' and 'Captain Scarlet.' I mentally shipped in quite a few of these fandoms (I was a teenager, after all) but didn't try and write that sort of thing down because I hadn't even heard of fanfic.

2. 70s 'UFO', mainly, and I didn't write any in this period. Came into 'Blake's Seven' fandom at the end of the decade. If I had written slash or ships at that time it would probably have been Blake/Avon - though I was the author of an 'underground' much pirated story which I tend to refer to as my A/B/C story. I must get round to putting some of that up on AO3, but right now my only available B7 story is 'The Quibell Abduction' (gen) at http://archiveofourown.org/works/332809 I read (and still, lord help me, own) a lot of B7 zines. Judith Proctor might be able to help you find online fanfic from this period.

3. 80s Early part in 'Blake's Seven' fandom. But quickly into 'The Professionals' and exclusively Bodie/Doyle. Most of my stories are on 'the circuit' but the only ones on up on AO3 are my one non-slash piece 'Tiger by the Tail'. (http://archiveofourown.org/works/339052) and a mood B/D piece 'Storm and Sunlight' (http://archiveofourown.org/works/341925) There are some quite stunning works from the 1970s up on AO3 for this fandom - try looking for 'Rediscovered in a Graveyard.'

I also read a lot of 'Starsky and Hutch' (mainly S/H) fanfiction and, for my sins, Inamac and I ran a fanfic review zine so we read widely.

I wrote a number of short stories in this period for fanzines. One 'UFO' story (Straker/Foster) called 'Ere the Ruin Fall' - on AO3 at http://archiveofourown.org/works/284440 I found this one very difficult as, you know, Straker would not fornicate with the help.

Then there was a 'V' slash story 'Attractions and Desires' which I wrote despite disliking the series and its characters (which I had been subjected to in quantity) because the idea fitted Tyler/Donovan, who I would not normally ship in a million years. I am also told this is my most erotic story. So it goes. (http://archiveofourown.org/works/285670)

My little non-slash 'Tales of the Gold Monkey'/Cthulhu Mythos story, 'A Star to Steer Her By' also dates to this period and, while I loved the characters I did not ship any of them. http://archiveofourown.org/works/284520

The 90s was when I was consuming most of my fanfic. I was well into crossover material like the Karenina Continuity Chronicles (http://fanlore.org/wiki/The_Karenina_Continuity_Chronicles) by the late Susan M Garrett, and the Cousin Universe of the Relativity zines (http://fanlore.org/wiki/The_Cousin_Universe). (The Relativity material is linked from that page; I wasn't able to find any KCC material on-line.)

Of course, I was into the Farmer Wold Newton Universe for forever, until that particular fandom became so angry and insular.

What Lil said! I've dug up three copies of our review zine (Critical Mass) which ran from 1981 to 1985 with fandoms including B7, Star Trek (Grope), Starsky & Hutch, Dr Who (Frontier Worlds, Shada), 007 (we were sent a review copy of the Bond Club zine which was a surprise to us too!), A Team and V (among many others). Most of the rest of our zines are in store. (PM me or Lil if you want access).

Of my own writing, I'm gradually putting stuff on AO3, though I'm not sure that it's representative. I wrote Narnia stories in the 60s (as school projects), shared Man from UNCLE fantasies (unwritten AFAIR) wit schoolfriends, and wrote my first fanfic for Blake's Seven in the 70s. Will check my records and let you have links to what's online since then.

In the 70s I tried writing a sequel to AC Clarke's The City and the Stars. It was very dire, and I only wrote a few pages worth. I pretty much stayed away from fanfic for the next 25 years, until I came across some Buffy fanfic, and decided to try my hand at it.

The problem with B7 fic from before the Internet era is that it's all on paper, and thus quite hard to get hold of (or just plain lost forever). If you really want to get hold of some, a post on the mailing list (which is now in its 22nd year!) will almost certainly get you lots of pointers.

70s - I wrote Silver Brumby and Watership Down stories. Though I was completely unaware I was writing fanfic, as I had never heard of the term...

80s - writing and reading Dr Who and Blake's 7 fanfic, mostly in paper fanzines like Cygnus Alpha and Space Rat. I started writing Strontium Dog fanfic back then, and read/wrote a bit of Judge Dredd (mostly spoofs).

90s - started my own Strontium Dog/2000ad fanzine, Dogbreath. The early issues are now available online here. (http://thequaequamblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/dogbreath-volume-01-archive.html) The 90s was also my first encounter with Dragonriders of Pern fanfic, and I dipped in and out of various telly fandoms as a reader.

2000s - got really into Dragonriders of Pern fanfic via Kadanzer Weyr (http://www.kadanzer.org/index.php) You'll find a bunch of my stories under the 'public stories' page, name Kear. I also continued Dogbreath until issue 14 and then handed over the running of the zine to the next generation! As a reader I dipped in and out of various TV show fanfic sites and read a fair bit of Wraeththu fanfic (based on the Storm Constantine novels). The best of those actually get made 'official' and published in dead tree format by Immanion Press (http://www.immanion-press.com/info/book.asp?id=396)

Nowish - not following anything in particular as a reader, just dipping in and out of stuff that friends point me at. Since the demise of Kadanzer Weyr I've not really been writing much. There are plans afoot to create a new Weyr story group, but all those involved keep getting attacked by real life and watching their time/thuses evaporate. :-(
