Freecycle goodies

Someone on Freecycle just gave me a 15" 1ghz Titanium Powerbook G4 (1gb RAM, I think 60GB HD and some sort of wifi already installed, think it's 802.11g). Needs a new battery and I'm not quite sure what I'll use it for, possibly the bedroom computer I keep muttering about, but it's working and I'm just installing OSX Leapord, so well pleased.

later - make that 100gb hard disk but wireless is an airport card, not extreme, so 11b and no bluetooth. Fortunately I ran a cable up to my bedroom the last time I thought about this.

later still - spoke too soon, leapord install is locking up, and now the disc won't eject - I suspect overheating. I'm switching off for a couple of hours then will try to eject it and install 10.4 tiger instead.

I have one similar and suddenly realised I can use it as a system monitor - one with lots of red and green lights on the screen to say everything is still working.

It is too old to use for anything sensible.

It died on me completely last night during my third attempt to install a working operating system - I think there's a motherboard fault or something, and the screen seems to be held together with sticky tape and glue. I've decided to give it up and salvage as much as I can for other projects.
