I'm going to be making the Forgotten Futures CD-ROM available as a zip file. I can do this by direct download from my site and via Dropbox, but it's a 400+ MB file so that's a biggish hit on the bandwidth, and I suspect that a lot of people will download it out of curiosity when I announce it.

What I'd like to do is make it available via bittorrent. Since I doubt it will be in demand so much that people can always find a torrent, does it need to be uploaded somewhere so that people can access it when I'm not on line? Is there a reputable site for doing this?

Alternatively, is there a free file hosting site for direct downloads that has reasonable bandwidth?

I have unlimited bandwidth with my web provider, so if you like I could add a page to my website where people could download the file.

That's certainly a possibility. Maybe the best thing will be to see what happens once I have things set up - if my site and Dropbox can handle the traffic I'll leave it, if not I'll get back to you.

[livejournal.com profile] gonzo21 suggested megaupload as a service with a highish bandwidth cap. Could you take a look and see if this works for you (preferably not while you're logged in as a Megaupload user, if you are)
